Construction Process Description

1. Cement Base Preparation

Purpose: Remove surface laitance, enhance adhesion between substrate and primer, and ensure foundation quality for subsequent coatings.
Requirements:

  • New concrete floors must be flat, firm, and dust-free, with a level difference ≤2 mm/2 m and cured for over 28 days.
  • Moisture content must be below 8%. For ground floors, apply moisture-proof treatment.
  • Remove oil stains and impurities; grind smooth or protruding areas.
Polish the surface using a concrete floor grinder

Procedure:

  • Surface Grinding: Use professional equipment to remove weak layers and expose fresh aggregates, improving surface adhesion.
  • Surface Cleaning: Use an industrial vacuum or air blower to remove all dust and debris, ensuring a clean, smooth surface.

2. Apply Epoxy Sealing Primer

Apply epoxy sealing primer

Purpose: Seal surface dust, allow the primer to penetrate the ground, and enhance the adhesion between the primer and the ground.

  1. Prior to primer application, measure the ground moisture content first: Use a moisture meter for measurement. If the moisture content is below 8%, primer application can be carried out directly. If the moisture content exceeds 8%, an appropriately sized absorbent paper can also be laid on the ground, sealed with tape around the edges to make it airtight. After 1 to 2 days, check the flammability of the absorbent paper. If it is flammable, primer application is feasible; if it burns intermittently, the moisture content is relatively high, and moisture-blocking treatment with damp primer is required. If it is difficult to burn, the moisture content is too high, and the ground should be cured further until dry. The specific construction plan shall be determined according to the actual condition of the ground.
  2. For the primer (20kg + 10kg), only 1kg of thinner (e.g., xylene) needs to be added. Mix the main agent and curing agent of the primer in proportion, stir thoroughly until uniform. Apply the mixture by rolling or scraping within the pot life. During application, ensure the coating is thin, uniform, non-running, and free of missed areas. The coated surface should have a glossy finish; reapply a second coat on matte areas (such as rough cement floors). This is the process for the first primer coat.

3. Epoxy Mortar Intermediate Layer

Epoxy Mortar Intermediate Layer

1) Epoxy Mortar Application:
Mix the primer (20 kg + 10 kg) with 0.15 kg/m² quartz sand (sample provided), 0.125 kg/m² putty powder (sample provided), and 1 kg thinner (e.g., xylene). First, thoroughly mix the resin, hardener, and xylene together. When mixing, pour the hardener into the center of the container with the resin to avoid uneven mixing. After a thorough mix, add the quartz sand and putty powder, then mix again until uniform. Within the workable time, apply the mixture evenly using a trowel, ensuring full coverage. While applying, compact the material and smooth it out to ensure a dense, even layer.

2) After Curing:
Once the layer has cured, grind out any trowel marks or defects, then clean the surface thoroughly before proceeding to the next step.

Recommended Tool for Mortar Application:
Use a professional flat trowel suitable for the required construction precision.

4. Epoxy Putty Layer (First Coat)

Epoxy Putty Layer

1) After grinding and cleaning:
Mix the primer (20 kg + 10 kg) with 0.125 kg/m² putty powder (sample provided) and 1 kg thinner (e.g., xylene). Once the materials are mixed thoroughly, pour them onto the floor. Use a scraper to apply an even layer, filling the sand holes and ensuring the surface is smooth. During application, remove large air bubbles using a toothed spatula and remove coarse impurities. Repeat the process to apply a second layer of putty.

2) After curing:
Once the putty layer has cured, clean the surface thoroughly using a feather duster or similar tool before proceeding with the next step.

5. Epoxy Putty Layer (Second Coat)

Epoxy Putty Layer (Second Coat)

Mix the primer (20 kg + 10 kg) with 0.125 kg/m² putty powder (sample provided) and 1 kg thinner (e.g., xylene). Once the materials are well-mixed, pour them onto the floor. Use a scraper to apply an even layer, filling any imperfections and ensuring a smooth surface.

6. Epoxy Colored Sand Self-Leveling Topcoat

Tools Required: 5 mm trowel, de-bubbling roller, standard nail shoes (size 40–43, 14 cm × 32 cm).

Special trowel (5mm)
nail shoes
de-bubbling roller

1) Mix the epoxy colored sand self-leveling topcoat (20 kg + 4 kg + 8 kg) with 1 kg of thinner (e.g., xylene). Once the materials are thoroughly mixed, pour them onto the floor and apply evenly using a trowel. After application, the entire surface should be smooth, glossy, clean, and uniform in color, with no air pockets.

2) After completing the application of the colored sand self-leveling topcoat, allow the floor to cure for 48 hours before allowing foot traffic.
